Mixed substrates

I'm looking to start an approximate 30g planted tank and I was wondering if there are any adverse effects to mixing Floramax and Eco Complete together, or Eco Complete and pool filter sand, or whatever. I have a 10g planted with only Eco Complete and I like the look, but I don't want my tanks to look the same, otherwise I would just replace the 10g I have already.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Anything else + PFS might have issue simply due to the size differences between the two substrates. They will eventually sort themselves out. EC + Floramax will have less of a problem with this.
