Hey everyone... Since my original thread of this tank, it's been a year since I won this kit (from SevenPorts John) and I FINALLY planted it today :)

Before I dive in to the planted details, here's a little info on this tank.

So here are the specs:

Tank:
Mr. Aqua 3 Gallon Mini Rimless Tank (18 x 5.5 x 7.1")

Light:
Mr. Aqua Ultrathin Aquarium LED Light (7.2W) -- (I'll most likely change this to the Sat+ Pro this week)

HOB:
Azoo Palm Filter

Substrate:
ADA Aqua Soil Africana + Sand

Hardscape:
Ohko Stone

Fauna:
Fire Red Shrimp

Flora:
-Anubias Petite
-Flame Moss (tied to 1x2" SS mesh for a foreground carpet)
-Subwassertang (tied to lava stones and placed in the back)
-Java Fern - Needle Leaf (back-middle)
-Sunset Hygro

Hardscaped + Planted + Flooded!!! Done deal!

Okay guys... FINALLY got around to doing 'something' with this tank. I retired the 6g GLA (mini m) to make time and space for this. Plus a lot of (personal) things came up and I just haven't had time. I mean, none. Life just gets in the way sometimes. But hey, I managed to carve out some time today to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies and to relieve some stress aquascaping! :)

I just re-purposed what I had on-hand in terms of flora, fauna, and hardscape. No pre-planning, just went to work and knocked-out a quick scape. I still have the 18" sat+ pro and I'll replace this stock light with it for the automation, bells-n-whistles, and cool moonlight features (even so I'll probably have to run it like <25% of full-power).

As for the details:

Just Fire Red Shrimp for now... Foreground I used 1x2" SS mesh tied with Flame Moss to create a carpet, stuffed every nook & cranny with Anubias Petite. I have Sunset Hygro in the background (might replace this later, I'll see how they do). Subwassertang tied to lava stones and placed in the back in a few spots. Some Narrow Leaf Java Fern in the back-middle.

And for the photos!!!

Thanks for following along -- even so it took me forever to plant this bad boy! haha

This is one of those cant-not-follow threads. I remember stalking that old thread and the phrase "putting a formula 1 engine on a go kart" really made me laugh especially with my sat+ pro on a five gal.
Looks amazing already! Love that stone, lovely form to it. Can't wait to see what become of it!
You continue to be a constant help and inspiration!

I'm in! Looks very nice our of the gate! Is that the fine grade aquasoil?

Subed! Almost pulled the trigger on a similar set up a few weekends ago. Should be a fun build!

Thanks guys for the compliments and for subbing!

@bichir - it's funny you remembered that! It's one swooped-up golf cart.. Haha.. I just have the Sat+ Pro on-hand sitting pretty in its box. Might as well use it.. But in all honesty, it's obviously overkill for this tank. The regular Sat+ would be more than enough. LOL

@Brook - I'm reusing the AS from my 6g when I took it down, so I forget exactly. But I believe it's a mix of regular and powder type.

@bcarl - it's not too late. Not trying to be bad influence, but hey you can always make room for a nano/pico tank! But man oh man, the new Mr. Aqua 22 Long is amazing! (Hint hint, need to live vicariously though someone here).

LOL! Hey I love spending other people's money too! I decided that I would rather spend the money on switching to a 17 gallon rimless with aquasoil. My lights would fit perfectly all I would need would be some lily pipes.

Yes! So you're getting a 60p? One of the best footprints for a planted tank, IMO. Just right dimensions for depth, height, etc.. The tank can appear much larger than it really is.

Im not getting it at the moment but, the whole setup just makes more sense, about the same tank footprint, water changes make more sense. But anyways, are you running co2 with this?

Gotcha.. Nope on co2, low tech with short photoperiods, and lots of dim moodlight settings for the bedroom with Barry White ambiance music.. Haha

If I ever wanted my old angels to spawn id just put on Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing and that usually did the trick.

Week 2 Update - No More Cloudiness!

So I had cloudiness, but now I can see clearly now the rain is gone! Song reference...LOL

I think I had the cloudiness from not only a newly setup tank, but I also had a bit of a bacteria bloom from the previous tank that all the plants and substrate came from. I added Purigen to the HOB and now my water is nice and crystal! :)

Oh and I added the Sat+ Pro! Loving this light for the color combos, auto ramp timer, and moonlight. Starred at my tank with some Barry White playing in the background or sexy R&B is a plus!! haha.

Close up artistic shot. Yes, I designed the 12G Club Sticker! ;)

I just love how this Ohko Stone presents opportunities to stick these Anubias Petite plants in it. There's like mini pots all over these stones.

Having fun with the various color modes on the Sat+ Pro:

I believe the added red spectrum from the Sat+ Pro is getting the Hygro Sunset to color up. This plant is a beast as it grows in ALL conditions -- this one is low tech with very little (if any) ferts / no carbon or excel either -- yet still coloring up. Didn't think that was going to happen.
