Enjoy! Sorry after getting permission from my mom to use her camera, been a little photocrazy.

I found my pond snail infestation. In my filter...
I decided to clean sponge filter... and I saw a little black spot, and another, and another... and another. Sure enough pond snails took over my sponge. 100s got into the little holes and were spawning like crazy.

Solution.. extremely hot water. I hope it killed all the snails living in my sponge.. I let it soak in very hot water for about 10-15 minutes and hoping it killed all of them.

Hopefully my plants will no longer be holy.. its starting to get very annoying.

If so.. going to have to do another complete tear down, and hope for the best.. or do the DIY pond filter catcher..

Looks nice, Ill snap some pics of my discus rescape today, much like yours its improved alot. And found 7 new plants. and 5 or so missing fish. Cant find my assassin though, his job is done in there and he is hiding.

So havnt updated in awhile, i will post pictures in the next couple of days.

My one guppy is about to give birth she has the square box and I think there is enough hiding for at least some of the fry to survive.

Been kind of tight on money because I am a college student, and its kind of hard to find a part-time job at the moment. My next purchase is probably going to be a light fixture if i can afford it.

I am currently using a 17w light which as all know that is not even close to what I need for my 45g planted tank. What I have been doing (and i think the only reason the plants are surviving) is while i am away I keep both my certains open and allow the sun to reflect into the room. Dont worry tho no direct sunlight because of how the houses and tress are around me, but it gives a nice glow into my room and hopefully some good sun to the plants.

My tank is (please excuse the horrid drawling.

and my light fixutre is only a 17w.. a 24inch 17w that is.. so with a 45g tank I think I need to shoot for 90-135w worth of lighting..

So yeah that's my next investment. I think thats right you want 2-3wattz per gallon. For a medium - high planted tank.
