help someone........should i dose mre than 1 time a week and does carbon suck out all the ferts

IMO don't dose more than the directions say, if that. I prefer to split the dose in half and feed 2X a week.

As for carbon, can't say about ferts specifically but it does remove meds. Many will say to remove carbon when using meds, put in to remove them so it seems logical that it may affect ferts in some way.

I don't use carbon unless I'm removing meds, seems unnecessary to me.

IMO, you should not be running carbon unless you are removing meds, odors or tannins. Other wise you are just wasting money. I have read numerous articles about AC removing ferts and have yet to find any with good scientific data. I imagine it could catch some of the larger particles but I doubt it would remove everything.

I'm with Steve... I've never read a scientific study that says AC will remove nutrients, but I've never used it so I couldn't say. What are your nitrates in this tank? Do you have any pictures of the sword?

ok so my nitrate is between 0-5.0
and my nitrite is between 0-.25

and the plant guy said they were gigantea swords

well i just got the excel and root tabs and did a major water chANge so lets hope that they come back to life .....

thanks for that........it talked about plants closer to the light will do better ....do u think because i have a 30 inch deep tank my 2x55w cf isnt strong enough ???

i have a 50g and i just got a algea out break so i hope the excel will help the plants and calm that down..

the swords almost died in one week do u think it was because i didnt have root tabs??i was runing lights 10 hours and used flourish 2 and they just turned yellow then clear and barkey alive....i was alos runing carbon in my filter wich i just removed today if that means anything cause i heard it sucks out the nutrients in the water??
