I'm new to under water plants... I have had pothos plants growing in both my HOB filters (one on 20 gal and one on 55gal) forever.... They're pretty big in both tanks (20-30 leaves and extensive roots in both filter flosses).

Just got some italian vals for the 55. Do you think I should move the pothos to the 20 gal in order to increase the nitrate in my 55 (to feed the vals and help them get established).

These pothos keep my nitrates really low (like between 2 and 5 ppm) in the 55, and I think that these vals could really use the food, right? I'm trying not to add ferts if I can get away with it.

55gal freshwater
2 x 4" fantails (who will hopefully not eat or uproot all the vals... I planted quite a few. fingers crossed.)
Am 0... pH 7.6... Ni 0... Na hovers between 2 and 5
Aqueon HOB 75 with pothos, floss and ceramic rings
Water change schedule 30%-50% every 5-7 days.

Thanks!
