Newb plant question

i have plants in my tank(from petsmart) my question is can i cut/divide/spread these plants? and if so how would i go about doing this?

would i have to cut the root/stem section into smaller pieces or could i pull the leaf stems off and plant them individually?

i'd like to do this the right way so i don't kill the plants i have.

i have an Amazon Sword plant(kinda small but growing) an Anubis plant and two that i can't remember the names and the petsmart website doesn't show pics of them...

i think i may have an El Nino(sp) fern but the fourth plant escapes me at the moment...
