Never seen it before; its lovely! Is it a true submersed plant? What sorta requirements does it have?

Its a variant of Nuphar japonica, (which is normaly green). The green version is also known as spatterdock or Cape fear. The Cape fear version is found in the carolinas of the USA, but the true Nuphar is from Japan.

Nuphar is a type of water lily. It grows from a large tuber which looks something like a chunk of pineapple. It grows quite large eventually, but grows very slowly. It needs fairly bright light. This is the first time this plant has been developed by growers to show color, and the color is truly spectacular. It has various shades of orange and red.

One trick to growing this plant is not to bury the tuber. You plant the tuber in the gravel at an angle with half of it above the gravel. This prevents the tuber from rotting and encourages more root growth which will help the plant to grow better.

In larger tanks, this plant will make a great looking focal point with a dramatic splash of color. I take enjoyment in nursing the plant along as it grows larger and larger, becoming more beautiful. Its not exactly difficult to grow, but takes a little patience.

So you actually have some of it Robert? Where did you find it? And how long? LOL And how much? It doesn't come up on a google search so I can't find any info on it.
