Nymphaea micrantha
Nymphaea micrantha is a plant that has been growing in my tank for about a year and a half. About a month ago it started to send a flower stalk to the surface. I trimmed all the leaves on the surface of the water, and the flower stalk vanished in a few days.
After that, I let the plant go a little wild. It started sending up a new stalk a about a week ago. This weekend it bloomed. Flowerstalk before blooming: ![]() ![]() I noticed the bloom was open last night almost at lights out. The blossom slowly closed over about 20 minutes. ![]() ![]() Today, when I got home from work I caught a shot of the blossom fully open. It is a little worse for wear from getting too close to the lights, but still very nice. ![]() ![]() Here is the same plant from about a year ago (on the left) ![]() Before this flower, the plant had reproduced by making little plantlets at the center of the leaves. These I just pick and replant. ![]() |
