PFS - Pool Filter Sand

Went searching for Pool Filter Sand, without success. Checked Lowe's, Home Depot, etc to no avail.

Was going to use it for a substrate in my 54G tank. In my 10G, I use simple gravel from Petco, however wanted a better substrate on the larger tank.

What they did have was Play Sand, is that the same thing?

No, not the same. Play sand will have bunch of crap in it that will float up/cloud up your water. The PFS will be much cleaner.

I've used both and would really recommend the PFS. It's much easier to rinse IME. Check out Leslie's Pool Supplies. It looks like there are a few locations in NH. Not sure how close they are to you.

My local HD has PFS. Did you check outside in the garden center?

You can usually find it a pool maintance store.

Thanks for the info. I'll search a local pool supply, then off to Leslie's. Yep, checked garden center and even asked at "customer service" much to my wife's delight.
