Plant I.D.

Found this plant growing in huge mats in a pond in Washington, Texas.

If any one can help me it will be very helpful.

Looks like small vallisneria.

No the leaves come out of the stem at the same spot several times up the stem

Maybe guppy grass?

No it grows in long strait strands but it is very densely packed. It does have its roots in the soil

To me, it just looks like hornwort.

I agree but hornwort has to many leaves. And the mystery plant has brown dots along is leaves if you can't tell from the pics

It could just be light deprived? My hornwort also has those 'dots'

It could be. It grows in mats very big like a a yard wide very close together

If the plant has roots, it isn't hornwort.

I think it is hornwort just light deprived

I found a pic of hornwort that looks very similar
