plant ID

Just wondering if anyone knows what this is. Its been planted in gravel for weeks and didnt do very well. I checked it yesterday and its very much alive(just about) so i attached it to some driftwood incase i was doing it wrong. Any ideas what it is and how it should be planted is appreciated

looks like purple waffle, a semi-aquatic that is often sold as an 'aquatic' plant by pet stores.

Ahh that explains why i cant find it on any aquatic plant sites and why its not doin so well. So i gather im best to take it out and look for somethin else

i would, it makes a good house plant though. Or if you have the ability to keep some of the leaves out of the water, it may bounce back.
