Looks like a sword to me. Lacking the "ribbing" on the leaves that java fern has.

I'd say sword good sir. A fine sword indeed. As fresh stated.. jf has more structure to the leaf if that makes sense..

Hi there,

Im not a big fan of chemicals/fertilisers etc.... Trying to run a natural tank.
Any natural tips anyone to keep a planted tank happy ?

Fertilizers are natural. They'd be present in Nature.

You can grow
Anubias
Java Fern
Java Moss
Without ferts usually.

Swords ? It might live. It might start turning transparent and die off without any food for it aka root tabs.

If ur asking whether i have soil in my tank, the answer is no.
I just have gravel.

To be honest, after looking at the sword carefully, its not the best looking at the moment... A little yellow on some leaves and a fair few black spots.

Just bought a new tank (juwel rio 400) which gets deliversd next week.

Any tips on subtate to help the plants before i begin to fill the tank.
Have planty of gravel 2mm... But should i layer the botton with something first ?

Like coursair said. I would do walstad or something similar. Get some soil on the bottom. It will help the plants if you don't want to use ferts/co2.

You don't want anything with big chunks of wood. No Perlite or similar.

You might sift it a bit to get any large chunks out.
