I have 2 columbian ramshorns(dangerous to plants) that seem to have found interest in my new pearlweed. Short of yanking them from the tank, are there any ways to prevent them from tearing up all of the pearlweed?

Nope. Once they begin using your tank as a salad bar, they will expect you to replenish the empty spots with more erm, salad.

They could be replaced with the planorbis sp, which is a smaller, non-planting eating species of ramshorn.
