PLants near a heater

Can plants be right up against a heater or will that burn the plants and kill them? I have a heater and want to try to hide it by planting near it but dont want to kill the plants.

For proper heating, the heater should have some circulation around it. Don't want to block too much circulation with plants. But they should be fine near it.
