do you know of any plants I can attach to the holes and crevices in my rocks, (besides java fern and java moss) that won't get too big (maybe 2-4" and maybe 5-6") and will not overtake the whole rock?

Anubias barterii var barterii is also very nice, a bit larger, but no taller then 4".. In general the Anubias family will grow on anything (including free floating.)

Thanks, I do like the anubias, I have one nana. A nana dwarf would look nice (if I can find any) Anyone know of anything else I could try?

I have a lace java fern attached to a small (3-4 inch) rock. There are probably about 6 plants on the rock; they all grew from one root or tuber. I got them a year ago and it took them this long to grow about 4 inches tall. I have thinned them out a little; many new plantlets grow from the root area, and I've trimmed out a few leaves. I've left the roots on the rock alone.
