plants that spread

are there any plants that i can plant that will keep growing outwards? kinda like spider plants have shoots that grow outwards?
 
Blyxa japonica divides very similiar to that. Mine tripled in 1.5 months. FYI though, these are medium light plants... so you would need to upgrade your current fixture before taking any on.
 
Basically any plant that propagates by runners, will spread as you described.
 
Sword, Hemianthus callitricoides, Marsilea minuta, crypts and sagittari are some more that spread by runners.
