Plants with SA cichlids?

Is this for aesthetics, or a nitrate issue?

I think they would become more of an eyesore because your cichlids will either eat them or make a mess of them. We're talking the larger cichlids right not dwarfs?

Yeah I have one Oscar, a pair of green terrors and a pair of green severums. I knew they would tear up any planted plants. Hence why I was curious about floating.
