Ok i have Red Ludwigia and it wont stay planted the stem die just above the roots and it floats ,but wont die i have high lighting and co2 and it grow like weed and super red but only when it is floating. planted would not grow and like i said before the stem die and float and it just go out of control.some ferts, high lighting,co2,ph around 7.5 to 8,temp 74 F.

i would like to build a forest with the plant ,but it only happen on top floating

Could be a number of things, including mineral/nutrient deficiency. Here's a link to plantgeek.net with a few Ludwigia listed (wouldn't pull up RL).

How are you planting the stems? Are you pushing the stem into the substrate? If so, you may be breaking the stem at the base. I try to dig a pit and place it in and cover the roots up.

+1 for meegosh. Also, if you're using plant weights, make sure they're not too tight. An overly tight plant weight can cause the same rot and breakage you're experiencing.

How much light do you have? They won't take if there's not enough lighting.
