I recently bought my regulator including a manifold from Rex. I was very pleased with the product and price. I'd buy from him again.

Anyone ever buy anything from this guy?
I was thinkin about getting the three way mini manifold and some needle valves.

I will give you the manifold for free. just get the valves from your local dealer.

Just thought I would give you the links/parts I used to make my rig. I used the parts that Rex uses to build his rigs. Figured people may want to know where to get them, because they may be more Familiar with him and the parts he uses can be obtained locally all over the US. Just a thought.

All Clippard parts, ( http://www.clippard.com )

Needle valve: (MNV-4K2) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=MNV-4K2

1/4 NPT (regulator out) to 1/8 NPT(Extention to solenoid) reducer: (4CQN-BLK) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=4CQN-BLK

1-port manifold: (2CPF-BLK) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=2CPF-BLK

3-port manifold: (15090-3) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=15090-3-BLK (pictured here: http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=15090-3-PKG )

12-port manifold: (MAN-12) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=MAN-12

Plugs for the manifolds: (11755-PKG) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=11755-PKG

2-way solenoid valve: (MME-2PDS-D110) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=MME-2PDS-D110

Check valve parts,

Check valve: (MCV-1BB) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=MCV-1BB

10-32 to Airline tubing fitting: (11752-4-BLK. get 2) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=11752-4-BLK

50 FT of CO2 hose: ( URH1-0804-BKS-050) http://www.clippard.com/store/byo_tubing/?sku=URH1-0804-BKS-050

If you want an in-line needle valve, combine Needle valve (MNV-4K2) with 10-32 to Airline tubing fitting (11752-4-BLK) and a 10-32 female hex coupling: (15004-BLK) http://www.clippard.com/store/display_details.asp?sku=15004-BLK

besides those parts, the only other things I needed were, of coarse the regulator and besides that, a 1/8 NPT extention that I got from home depot and an electric cord for the solenoid valve. I think this list of parts will help those who have seen rex's site and would want to build a setup just like his (just like I did), but will save them all the hassle and time spent researching the part numbers and the clippard dealers time, LOL. Randy.

NOTE: if your order from the clippard web site there is a 10 dollar handling fee. The local dealer does not charge this.

EDIT: FWIW, I have order parts from Rex and would still do so, if I didn't have the time to build one myself.

I got all my stuff from Rex as well. He a no nonsense type guy, if you want it all built for you, hook it up to the bottle and go, he's your man. Highly recommend him, I would also buy from him again.

Two Questions. If I want to run without a solenoid and turn the gas off manually at night, is there a part that is available to do this? I have the 1/4" to 1/8" adapter that comes out of the regulator. I need an on/off valve with a 1/8" female inlet on one end and a 1/8" male outlet on the other or with a 1/8" female inlet on both ends Where can I find that part?

If I decide to go with a solenoid (not what I'd prefer) does the one you link us to come completely assembled with cord, and if not what has to be done to finish it for plugging into the wall?

You could just shut your needle valve off, but that would mean resetting it which is a pain in the as... butt, or I'm sure I could look up another type of valve that could fit in there and you could shut it off that way. Why not a solenoid?

No, you have to use a type of electric cord. I used a computer power cord. If you have any type of power cord that has three wires (hot, nuetral, ground) you can use that.

EDIT: why not just shut the main valve off on the CO2 tank or turn the regulator valve all the way down? The problem you are going to have with a manual valve is you are going to have to be there everytime.

With a solenoid you can run a timer with your lights to turn it off at night and then in the morning you can have the CO2 come on before the lights so the CO2 concentration is already at the max when the lights come on.

So basically what I'd need to do is pick up a three wire cord at Home Depot and just wire the solenoid to it, correct? Looking at the Clippard site, I often wondered whether they came complete or not. Then looking at your picture I saw the wiring coming out of the solenoid but didn't know what kind of wire to buy at HD to match it.
I have been using beer regulators and they all come with shut off valves so I just got into the habit of turning them off myself, but it does get to be a pain in the butt when I'm not home at the shut off time. And I haven't found a piece that will go in between the fittings I mentioned that will act as a shut off valve, so if you know of one let me know.

I have reservations about using solenoids because of all the complaints I've heard about them fail and the disasters that followed. Clippard makes pretty solid equipment though so if I'm going to trust anyone, I guess I should be able to trust them.

This is probably going to sound dense, but what is the real difference here between his stuff and stuff found elsewhere.

What I think I'm seeing is that if you want to connect multiple tanks to the same regulator then he is the man to go to, but if you're just looking to rig one tank wouldn't it be cheaper to pick up a regulator/bubble counter/solenoid from Milwaukee or something?

I know that the Milwaukee and JBJ are not the same quality as the parts used by rex, but it's about half the cost right?

yes that type of cord is all you need. (a round cord looks best)

The solenoid in my picture was a "wired" solenoid. I linked to the non-wired verison in that previous post. I suggest you purchuse the non-wired version. The non-wired has a LED to let you know when it is running and is much more professtional looking and is much easier to install the cord into. Mine looks like a second rate install, It has wire nuts hanging out and electric tape on it, with the non- wired version, you will not have this.

You can also use his stuff to add to those regulator's later on. You can removed the bubble counter from the solenold and add in a manifold to go to muliply tanks. For just one tank I would for a Milwaukee aswell.

I apologize for helping to hi-jack this forum from it's original intention.
Yes, Rex builds good equipment and uses only the best material, IMO. Many of the items we've been talking about are the same ones he uses.
He will build you a system according to your specs., whether you need a single manifold for one tank or a 4-way for four tanks. With or without a solenoid or bubble counter.
Send him an e-mail and tell him what you need and he will quote you a price. I think you will be happy with what he builds and the price (if you want quality).

rkilling1 - That would be the MME-2PDS-D110 solenoid, correct? And it has a 1/8" female input and a 1/8" female outlet for the manifold to go into, correct?
Just want to get all my ducks in a row before I order. I'm going to buy a few of them.
BTW, thanks for your patience on this.
