alright, I have started planting my tank. I started with a java fern, and when it did well(tho I have come to the conclusion that its not gonna thrive and give me a cool jungle-y tank) I decided to get a more substantial plant, and saw moneywort at petland. So I decided to get three of them, and after about 3 weeks, a few of the leaves are starting to turn yellow(I have ordered a bulb to replace the aqueon my hood came with) and think I have fixed that(as soon as bulb arrives. My other issue, which is where the question resides, is if there is a way to keep the tiger barbs away. The plants havent been eaten to the stems by by means, but maybe a third of the leaves of all the plants have chunks missing. Is there a way to protect them, like a plant they like to eat better, or maybe the light will have the plant outgrow the losses?
