Hello! So I just got this 29G Tank. (Yes I know that is very big for a shrimp tank lol)
Regardless I literally have NO idea what i'm doing. Ive seen many tutorials online, but they all differ so much. All I know is that I want Cherry Shrimp. And I want black substarte and eventually I want the whole bottom of the tank to be planted. (im not sure what this called, but I love this look, looks like a carpet of rooted plants)

So basically could someone please send me a step by step tutorial on what to do. Even more importantly, what do I need to buy. A total list of what to buy, even with Amazon Links if need be. I would be entirely grateful. Ive been wanteing to do this tank for quite some time. And now is my chance. I love this website and look forward to any advice y'all have. I am most certainly new to all this, and there are some real experts here! Thanks. :fish2:

Don't get your heart set on a carpet/lawn of plants, but that's just my jaded advice.

They can happen, but its not easy. If you're interested, Google Dry Start Method DHG.

( dwarf hair grass )

A larger tank will be more stable for the Shrimp. So that's good [emoji106]?

Regardless of carpet or no carpet, you'll enjoy your Shrimp tank.

The deal with carpeting is that it usually needs High Light/injected CO2 and high maintenance to look good AFAIK. some of my club members succeed with this style. Some don't.

You want info on Iwagumi Style Aquariums it sounds like

I'm more of a low light, low tech, easy maintenance type.

I don't have a step by step for you. Someone on here should have better links for you.

This was one of the prettier versions, I later sometimes regretted adding fish. As baby Shrimp now hide.

A 29g is a huge tank for shrimp, makes me wonder if at some point you'd regret all that essentially unused space. Then again if that happened you could add some sort of fish.

Can't really help you with the carpet, I'm more of a low tech person with tanks. Shrimp do best in an established aquarium though and they definitely appreciate plants and mosses. Things like cholla wood, IAL, and alder cones help grow biofilm which shrimp will almost constantly pick at.
