hi guys, i bought three twisted vals for my new tank about a month ago...
they were going really well the first week, two of them even sprouted runners which grew 4-5 leaves. Since then there growth has stopped and the leaves have started to go yellow.
It is a 38" tank with a 27W neon light...
all the other plants in my tank seem to be doing really well, including the straight vals.

anybody here have any advice, even if it is too late for these vals?

ps: none of the fish seem to be eating the vals, and the water conditions are all normal except for slightly soft water. substrate is comprised of smalish sized (3-5mm?) gravel

thanks in advance :)

Hiya hitty and welcome to Aquariumadvice.

I'm gonna move this post to the FW plant forum; should recieve more answers there. My off the top of my head guess is there is not enough light in that tank; you want 1-3 watts per gallon, at least 2 watts for vals. A lack of nutrients may also play into things.

Lack of light and the fact that Vals really prefer harder water. You really do need a minimum of 2 wpg to try and grow Vals.
