Hey guys I've been running my 10g planted tank and need some help trying to carpet my Repens.

Specs:
10g tank
Finnex 24/7 (run on 24/7 mode)
AquaClear 20 HOB

Fertilizers:
PPS-PRO ferts (2mL daily)
Seachem Iron (1mL daily)
Metricide(3mL daily)

No water changes currently because of cycling.

Currently finishing off a fish less cycle. Tank has been up close to 2 months and only holds some pond snails.

The bottoms leaves are browning at the tips and discoloring.

I'm getting lovely side-shoots from the original plants. Should I cut and replant or will it continue to carpet itself?

I found that the star repens developed a huge root system leading me to believe they are pretty hungry root feeders. It might help to add some for them.

I would let the side shoots grow to at least a little over 1" before trimming them. A single plant can potentially carpet approximately 1.5 sq. inches or so relatively quickly. The carpet will fill in faster with frequent trimming and replanting though.

Thanks Mebbid I was wondering when to clip them. I left out root tabs I just noticed. I'm using your DIY tabs. And made sure they are buried DEEP this time :D

I think Co2 would help a lot. Mebbid is spot on though.

Sorry don't mean to jack your post, but was wondering about the diy tabs? How does one make them?
