I just wanted to share...I'm so thrilled with how this worked! 
I've just finished setting up my little tank...used "Chuck's Planted Aquarium Pages" method for setting up a planted tank. So, lots of plants, excel(instead of CO2 since it's a little one) and a couple weeks to establish growth...then added otos (on his suggestion as first fish...). It's been a week with fish. No ammonia, no nitrite, two active happy otos, no obvious algae. Love it! Just having to start fertilizers now cause my nitrate's bottoming out...
