substrate ?

How much of eco complete do i need. My tank is 60 Inches long by 20 inches wide. wright now I have 125 lbs of sand blasting gravel and would eventually like to replace it with eco as much for the look as anything, I have just heard that it takes less of it than other stuff.

Check out this link. 2" depth came out to 5 bags. 3" depth says 8.

Good link, HN1!

You really don't need more than like 1.5" in the front...depending on what foreground plants you have...and I suggest having around 3" in the back....so you could probably split the difference ^ and get like 6 or 7 bags....and the slope the substrate up towards the back.

Ummmm you can't "gravel vac" sand.

The waste doesn't (for the most part) penetrate the surface of the substrate. You just suck it up without really disturbing the sand. It should stay in place, but shift somewhat. It actually makes for a more natural looking display to allow sand to settle based on your flow, aquascape, and fish.
