That looks to me like the start of new swords... I wondered the same thing when mine did that...here's how it progressed...

I have another runner coming off the main plant making the total three. The first picture I submitted is at the end the end of one of the runners that has five baby swords on it already. is the baby sword sending out a runner already? Either way this plant is really taking off. Had to move my pleco to another tank as he really took a liking to the leaves.

And yes I am going to trim the brown leaves today. I know it looks bad, been busy.

Okay, all the brown leaves are gone. Sanity is back in my house hold. Three days in a row off for the first time since November. Job is killing me. Anyway, anyone have any ideas on what the growth is? The pic is a wider view than the other. The bloom in question is on the far right top of the tank in the second pic. Thanks again
