Let me clarify, I want a tall growing background plant that won't take over my tank, and that won't suck all of the nutrients before the other plants can get some.

have you tried jungle vals, contortionist vals, onions plants, or even individual stem plants?

I always found jingle vals got sucked to the intake tubes in my filters, I never could figure how people kept them in the back with HOB filters. And I hate putting sponge over the intake ...
