Look for daylight spectrum (6500K-6700K) bulbs at any major store. They're a little more expensive than the cheap warm white bulbs, but they're worth it. You get a pleasant blue tank instead of a nasty yellow tank.

Root tabs are little clay tabs that have fertilizers mixed in. You bury them deep in the substrate to provide nutrients to the plant roots. You can use them in addition to dosing the water column or independently.
 
I get it now :D Thanks! I'm excited for the nice blue tank haha my 50 gal is like that, but my 20 and 10 are nasty yellow :( oh well, not for long :D
