Since our kribs haven't spawned yet, I decided it was ok to go ahead and do some plant care.

I removed 3 swords from our 40g (omg it looks empty) to re-home in our 55g. These guys have grown huge btw and have huge roots "balls".

Can I trim down the roots balls to make re-planting easier? I know with some plants it's fine and won't cause damage but I haven't found anything about the swords.

i had an amazon sword in my 150 and my fish ate all the roots and the leaves, only leaving a small ball, put it in one of my 10g's and it grew 12" leaves within a month... just my experience with it, but id say go for it

Thanks, yeah that's what I figured. I only plan to trim them a little bit, enough to get it into a whole in the gravel easier. I can't imagine it would any damage to the plant.

I use to trim mine down. I look at it like house plants. As long as you don't go crazy, they seem to like it.
