Water Change Urgency

I have a simple one gallon aquarium with a under gravel filter. All it has in it are rocks and two easy care plants (forgot their names-I think they are a fern and an anubias) I ran out of aqua safe and it will be awhile till I'm near someplace to get it. Can I do a water change without it?
