Water Sprite Planting Question

I planted a water sprite in my tank the other day and wanted to make sure it was okay. All i did was bury the roots in the sand. I've read they grow when not placed in the substrate so I want to make sure putting the roots in the sand won't kill the plant.

It does perfectly fine! Water sprite can be floated or planted! Soon you will see small leaf coils come out of the soil and grow into another stem of your plant!

I haven't found any way to prevent this stuff from growing.
