I recently did some planting in my aquarium and am now doing a little catch up. Some of my new plants are dropping tentacles that look something like roots from leaves well up the stem. What does this mean? Should I be doing something? Is there a decent comprehensive online source for the basics of aquarium plants?

What kind of plants are they? Some plants do that to either root themselves or use those roots to collect nutrients. More than likely it's a good thing.

it's moneywort. They are too high to be roots that would ever be in the substrate. I guess it never occured to me that they may be for getting nutrients directly from the water.

Still looking for some good reading...
