What is causing this?

What is the brown spots that are coming upon my glass they are hard to scrape off. What do I need to do to get rid of them for good. Lol

It's kinda hard to see in the picture, but I think it's some sort if algae

most likely diatoms, sometimes called brown algae. It is usual in a new setup and normally disappear over time. Oto cats will eat it.

My tank is about 6 years old I just can' t figure out who I am getting this now. Are diatoms hard to get off ?

Diatoms usually brush right off, so I don't think they're diatoms

I usually have to scrub at to get it off, so it is probably not diatoms.

My plecos inhale brown algae.

What kind of pleco do you have? I have 2 one is a clown pleco and the other is a bnp and they do seem to touch it.
