No not at all, its the mother plant.
As photo shown, just removed one of the leaves.

it looks like it has this crusted brownish look in spots.
 
was just adding Seachem Flourish half a cap bi-weekly.
diatoms, would be something I could wipe off, not in this case from what i see.

David....are the edges of the leaves black/brown/or clear? Hard to tell in the picture...

And also, do you have soft water?
 
Looks to me like the plant is missing some nutrients. I think you need to add the ferts more than bi-weekly, more like 2 times a week.

If I will start edding ferts again, I will have to swich to some other liquid and not Flourish, whether it was a bad bottle or something, something was wrong, the fish hate it. Loss of color, problems with the eggs turning while, all after i started using Flourish.
