I want to add some plants to my tank. Mainly to look good and for shelter for the fish. What type of plants do Silver dollars not eat? I have a 65 gallon fresh water.

My two silver dollars ate all my 'hair agile" (ya!) plus all my Hornwort (boo).

But I noticed that they do not eat the Hornwort that is floating on top, just the planted ones. odd

Anti Silver Dollar Plants

Hello jaa...

There aren't many plants with leaves tough enough for "hard core" veggie eating fish. However, Peace lily, Onion and most ferns will fit the bill. The Peace lily really isn't an aquatic plant, but it will survive and even grow submerged. The Onion plant is a relatively slow grower, but the long leaves are extremely tough. Most of the ferns produce leaves that are distasteful to fish. I have these three in my tanks and other than the fish picking off small bits of algae from the leaves, the plants are left alone.
