What would you doI
I am setting up my 90 gal next week and wondering if I should fishless cycle it first, or just plant it and run the filter from my 55 in conjunction with the new one for a few weeks.
And if I use the mature filter, (which I probably will) can I transfer all the plants and fish from the 55 at once? If I don't then I wont be able to use the filter as I don't have a backup for the 55 that is still running. (I know I have asked variations of this question before, I just don't want to harm my fish so any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Last edited by happygirl65; 03-01-2008 at 07:53 PM. |

I'd go ahead and move everything to the new aquarium along with the established filter. Run it this way for a few weeks (2-4) and then you can move the filter back to its aquarium and restock. Since most of the beneficial bacteria is in the filter and on the plants, this will allow the new aquarium to get established and seed the new filter.
