Why are my indian ferns doing incrdeibly well byt none of java fers are?

Iv put 6 Indian fern in my tank and they are doing so good. They have grown like 2 inches in 2 weeks and are very green while I added 5 java fers and they are alive, they not diying but on one or two the leaves are turning brown. I uses tetra fertilizer (the grave stuff) and the liquid fertilizer. iv heard tetra black water is good for them but I use it because it calms the fish and I really like the slight brown in the water (I use 5ml a week) also I have peat pellets in my fluval. I do not use any carbon stuff and stuff like that. So any ideas? Thanks (sorry for any bad spelling)
