why is only one plant pearling?
all my plants are healthy and growing well. i just fought some bba becasue i forgot to redo my co2 mixture before i went somewhere so i was running the tank at around 80 watts of light (4 WPG) for 4 days without co2. needless to say i came home to a mess. i quickly redidi the co2 and all new growth is lush and green/red like it always is. but the only plant that seems to pearl in my tank is my red fox tail(i dont know the technical name) and it pealrs like crazy. but why only this one? i thought it was weird. i will sometimes see a tiny bit of pearling with some of the other plants but nothing like the one plant. here is a pic of it. at least i know its healthy and happy

Gurus will often talk about the nuances of things like nutrient mobility in the water column, proximity to the CO2 diffusor, and so on when one hard plant is happier than another hard plant. It would make sense that light at that spot and how fast the plant grows (since pearling plants should be producing more oxygen/plant mass then other plants) also matters. Just information. In the end maybe the plant gods decided to gift you with a perfect plant.
Fantastic pic. Your plants look amazing mr funktastic. |

lol i like that, the plant gods. thats the answer i will use when someone else asks me why there are bubbles coming from one of my plants. the plants look nice now but u can see in that pic the lower growth of that plant is green with bba on it. the stuff hit hard and coverered everything which really made me mad becasue i offered a bunch of plants to some people and now i cant send them becasue of the algea!!! oh well i guess. i am doing a big pruning next week and hopefully switching out to eco complete next sunday.

it sits on the far right side of my tank. i have many plants dead centre under the light and nothing. although i have found it extreamly hard to make hygro polysperma pearl. i have seen my java moss pearl quite a bit but it is a random occurance. my bacopa sometimes pearls aswell but i guess just the shape and everything of thie plant allows the bubble to cling better and looks like it is doing it alot. i love this plant and suggest it to anyone. the fox tail is such an amazing red colour and grows like crazy. it send out tons of side shoots and u can just clip it and replant it anywhere. u need decent light to keep the red though. it will be more of an orangish pink hue if u dont have higherlight.
