I assume he is askign for either one 48" fixture with 4 96w pcs or two 24" fixtures with two 96w pcs.

Go for the one 48" because mounting could be more tricky with 2x24". Like with the coralife the only way you could use the legs with 2x24 would be to offset them with each other and to me that would look stupid and create an uneven lighting pattern in the tank. Probably slight but you may notice it when you look in.

Ya I have it on mine too most newer tanks do... the brackets that they sit on (not normal output fixtures but [acronym:150e917bfb="Very high output fluorescent"]VHO[/acronym:150e917bfb]/[acronym:150e917bfb="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:150e917bfb]/[acronym:150e917bfb="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:150e917bfb]) attach to the outer rims of the brace... obviously they would have to cross each other if you put two in. When you have the kind that sit on the inside of the ledge they are typically 18" bulbs so they are made a bit smaller so that they fit properly. The entire tank is 48" so two 24" fixtures won't fit exactly right with the center brace unless you get some sort of retrofit which is mounted in teh canopy.
