20g tall nano-reef - 2 koralia 1's, seaclone 100, 2x65 watt pc fixture, 150 watt heater, about 25 lbs. live rock, 30 lbs. aragonite sand, bunches of zoanthid frags, star polyps, candy cane frag, 2 clowns, 2 PJ card's 1 spotted mandarin (eating brine) cleaner shrimp.
150g reef - coming soon! - (hopefully in 2009)

I agree with the others, go reef. You may have some trouble trying to light it up evenly though.

My 2 cents on what i would do. I think it would look nice as a reef, but i do think that it would be a nice planted tank. I would turn it into either. Now from what i am hearing from you it sounds like IMO you should do the discus tank. It sound like to me you want that under it all, less money and would please the family. Just thought i would add that in.

i seen that tank it is a beauty... the first thing in mind was a REEF..... be sure to post pics. and let us know what you decided...
A 20 gallon, set up with filter, heater, air stone. Malaysian driftwood, crushed river rock substrate, and water is softened by peat tea. Its inhabitants are 4 red platies, six silver-tip tetras, and seven black skirt tetras, all currently thriving!
