dwarf gourami

My LFS has some beautiful orange dwarf gouramis there. i'm only interested in picking up one. would this be harmful to the fish?

As far as I know, they need to be in groups to thrive. I have 4 in my tank.

What do you mean limited space? Like small aquarium?

No, the inch per gallon rule is garbage... IMO you dont need to add any fish...

You should go get another tank. I got a 20G/glass at WalMart for $30, (although I will be putting a new kind of filter on it). I wouldn't add any more fish either, or you will be doing WAY more partial water changes! How is your ammonia level now?

all of my chemistry is on point.
I do one 30% and one 50% water change every week.

i unfortunately have no room left in this tiny apartment for another tank.

Now even more motivation to get out of this place.
