The staff at Maidenhead are all very clued up, worth going there over any other Lfs I know of to be honest!

I don't even rate Maidenhead

I'm with you, every time I've been to a maiden head they have nothing, no special species of fish or any good products. Their plants were infested and everything is pricey .

The maiden near me are the best fish shop I have ever been to and I have been to loads all over the country but the pets at home are disgusting the way they treat there livestock

I actually think it comes down to the staff in each store. The difference between PaH and Maidenhead is that PaH tend to employ a lot of part time staff on minimum wage that don't really know a lot about fish (there are a few exceptions but rarely) whereas maidenhead have a lot more long term staff and many of there managers are actually shareholders of the company with vested interest in the success of their company. It sounds like you guys who have seen the dead fish in Maidenhead have been unlucky and gone to some shite stores. I cannot defend all of the stores as I have been to some myself that could do with improvement but I know i would prefer to buy my livestock from Maidenhead than most others.

I am also in the south Garfy, I wouldn't mind hearing what you think of the Woking branch as I have not been there.

The Abingdon PAH isn't to bad. Always friendly and most staff seem to know what they're talking about. We have 2 maidenhead aquatics nearby and the goldfish bowl. Depending on what you're looking for they are all reasonable

Ok so here is my report on maidenhead aquatics in Woking :
I would say it's one of their smaller stores.
The fish all appear healthy although there isn't a great variety of cichlids and the ones they had were too small for me at about an inch long.
A good stock of community fish though.Tetras etc and also some nice looking marine fish and corals.
My advice if your around this area would be to go to the Windsor branch or the reading branch.

The swallowfield branch is the one I meant. It comes under reading in their store locater.

I would suggest maidenhead aquatics as well. I have only ever brought one fish from pets at home. It lived for about 4 months and then died . All the fish I've ever brought form Maidenhead are still alive to this day!

My local PAH Stafford, has well kept tanks, staff ask questions when you are purchasing fish, never seen a dead fish, has poor labels as per, my local Maidenhead Aquatics, good selection of fish, often dead fish, staff don't ask questions. My independent LFS's owner is quite Rude and flippant, dead fish plenty, poor selection of fish. And doesn't get used by me anymore.

Really? You have bad experience with Maidenhead? Where I am, the Chichester one is amazing! They Have huge amounts of tropical and marine fish! They are my fav shop. They give me discount too!
