Brown alge????

ok the tanks has been up since saturday 1/7/06 i have brown alge growning on the live rock.I am running the lights from 6:10am-12m.How log should i be keeping the lights on for?Thanks Derrick

Lights are not important during the cycle. They will only help algae grow. The only reason you may want to run them is if you have coralline you want to keep alive.

sounds like diatom algae and it is a normal part of the tank cycle. It should go away in a few weeks. lights not needed, if you want to run them do it when your home so you cna view the tank for a few hour a day.
