can i put a 95 watt PC into a 55w ballast? - Aquarium Advice

I have the 18/55 watt ballast, can i run a 36" 95watt actinic [acronym:ba632e4e5b="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:ba632e4e5b] in there?

I have the straight 4 pin kind.

What will happen, anyone tried this b4?

If it lights up at all, and I doubt that it would, it would be very dim. You can buy a 4x32 or 2x59w Sylvania Quicktronic ballast at Lowes that will do a very nice job of lighting the 96w [acronym:4302439621="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:4302439621]. I think they're about $27.00. I just built a 4x65w [acronym:4302439621="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:4302439621] fixture using two of the 4x32w ballasts and it works very well.

hmm thanks for that advice! i think i will try, so which ballasts do i need to buy to power 2 96watts?

Either two of the ones I mentioned above or a Fulham Workhorse 7.
