diatoms ?

Should i be getting diatoms yet in my cycle? I'm 11 days into the cycle and my ammonia is still to high to read on the kit and i also had a big jump in my trites today. I didn't think the diatoms would start until my trites went down

I dont believe there is no set in stone rule for Diatoms. I`ve had them for the whole 8 yrs I`ve been involved with SW

diatoms getting bad

my diatoms are coming on strong i thought i wouldn't get them until my cycle was done. I think I'm at my trite spike right now. I want to put a clean up crew in there but i know they won't live. What should i do just wait them out or should i scrub as much as i can? Here is a pic

add nothing till the cycle is over, alot of time the diatom will burn it self out so do not rush the clean up crew. A mix of crabs and snails is a good start.
