Digital picture tips

I got a digital camera for fathers day!!! Was just curious what tips, if any, are there for photographing aquariums and fish. Thought my might try to post some pics of my tank later today.

1. use a tripod
2. do it in the evening when the sun has gone down - turn off all lights in the room and use only teh tank to light the photo (but not necessarily ALL the lighting, as this can bleach out the photo if your camera can't adjust to it)
3. turn off the flash
4. take 2-3 shots each time
5. its better to take large, higher resolution photos, and the scale them down in photo editing software. when the original uses more resolution, the scaled down photo will look better than if you'd used a lower resolution that was the same size as the scaled down photo. the more pixels, the better.

As far as posting, try to get the file size under 50Kb, so the people on dial-up have an easier time viewing them.

There are a couple of good threads in the photography section of the site with lots of tips on shooting your aquarium.
