diy lighting

Would it be ill-advised of me to build my own light fixture for my 12g nano-reef? I dont see an immediate problem with buying two incandescent fixtures from home depot (<$5 each) and builing a reflector and straping it all together.

I would use the 20W 50/50 compact flourescent screwins like i have on my 10g fw.

Anyone done this? Is this a really bad idea?

Thanks

as long as the electrical connections can't get wet from moisture buildup, it should be fine.

Well...You can definitely buy the fixtures and any component parts there, you should really just look for a hood and get a [acronym:a24e78e634="Do it yourself"]DIY[/acronym:a24e78e634] kit from one of the online guys like InnovativeLights or something. I got a 2x55 [acronym:a24e78e634="Do it yourself"]diy[/acronym:a24e78e634] with a fulham WH5 and bulbs(!) for like $30. You if you get the hood, you can get a 1 or 2x18w retro (i got the 2x1 . i think its innovativelights.com
