Do actinics really help sps corals?
Do actinics really help [acronym:744a0d8552="Small Polyped Stoney"]sps[/acronym:744a0d8552] corals?
Hiya guys i have been thinking about whether to use actinics on my new set-up. As i am going to be using 3 250watt se or 400watt se 20k, and 2 400watt se 10k. Have been wondering whether actinic supplementation would help. As i think the 20k has around the same wavelength as the actinic with them peaking around 420. Andrew |

Everything I've read says no, they do not require the actinics and they are more for you than the coral, it will adapt to whatever wavelength is available.

cool thats good to hear, as im not sure i would be able to fit in some t5s anyway. and was thinking that the 20k 400w might be bluer to the eye then the t5s so may look wrong going from dark-light blue-dark blue-white-dark blue-light blue- dark.
