Found one of my Perc's just commited Suicide
I come home today and I do my normal check of the tanks and I notice one of my Perc's is missing. I look all around inside the tank and find it no place. I was about to give up when I noticed one of our cats taking interest in a spot on the floor.
I bend down and find it was the missing perc. At some point in time it jumped out of the tank and ended up 2' away on the floor. I was way to late as it had already dried up and gone to the great ocean in the sky Why would the perc jump out of the tank? Anyone have any ideas? All the fish have been in that tank for over a year now. Nothing new has been added. [/b]

I'm sorry Aaron. There are many reasons that a fish may jump out of the tank, the simple fact is we will never know why yours did. I am sorry for your loss.

Could you post some of the reasons?
It wont help me but it might help others. I have no idea as the tank has been the same for close to a year. It same equipment, same fish, same inverts. Only thing is regular water changes (last one this weekend) and top offs (today).

These are just a few of the reasins that a fish may jump, the very most common one though, is #1. I would venture to say that a good 95% - 99% of all carpet surfing can be attributed to #1.
