Mikebaker has fishy dreams
hatching brine shrimp

I'm having trouble getting brine shrimp to hatch, i have a vile of eggs from the sanfransisco bay company, does anyone have any advice or tips?

Get 2 soda bottles, cut the top off of one and the bottom off of the other. Set them up like this:


Sorry for the crude drawing but I did it about a minute.


This set up will prevent brine shrimp from settling on the bottom.

I got one of the simple hatcheries available from most [acronym:7aef361c4b="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:7aef361c4b] (www.thatpetplace.com).

Specific gravity of the hatch water should be about 1.010-1.020 and it should be aerated to get the best hatch amount.

Should also be pretty warm for best hatching. When I first hatched them I thought i was a failure, but I just wasn't looking closely enough!!! they are TINY little buggers, hold the hatchery up to a light and look for tiny swimmers .. .

thanks, i got a hatchery and started using aerated water, now they're hatching like crazy, my coral beauty (first fish) loves them.
